Interfacial Engineering of ZnO/CdS Heterostructure for Long Cycle Life Li-O2 Batteries

batteries are very promising battery devices with a super high theoretical energy density. However, there are still some issues that need to be addressed such as poor cycle life and sluggish reaction kinetics. Therefore, we prepared ZnO/CdS core-shell heterostructure by surface-functionalized method. Similar lattice matching ensures successful coupling at the heterogeneous interface, and the built-in electric field promotes charge transfer within the material, thus facilitating the electrode reaction. The ZnO/CdS electrode achieved a long life of 140 cycles at 100 mA g
-1
with a fixed specific capacity of 1000 mAh g
-1
, far exceeding the 25 cycles for ZnO and 20 cycles for CdS. This work provides a new perspective on the interface design of cathode catalysts of LOBs.
