Due to changes in modern living habits, cardiovascular disease has risen to become one of the leading causes of death worldwide. In response, the use of artificial hearts has emerged as an effective method for treating heart failure. Investigating the patterns of mechanical injury to blood is crucial in advancing artificial heart technology. Therefore, this article presents the development of a Taylor-Couette shear device capable of precisely controlling shear stress and exposure time. This design offers improved accuracy compared to previous iterations of the Taylor-Couette device. Additionally, the article proposes a research methodology for studying blood injury based on the characteristics of the device and the cells involved. The effectiveness of this research method is further explained from a biological perspective.
