Morphotaxonomic and phylogenetic analysis of Saprolegnia aenigmatica from Arunachal Pradesh, India

This study reports the isolation of a fungus-like organism, the oomycete species Saprolegnia aenigmatica, from a water sample collected from Arunachal Pradesh, India. Morphological observations and multi-gene phylogenetic analyses using ITS and LSU gene sequences were conducted to identify and characterize the species. The study results suggest that S. aenigmatica is a new record from India. This finding highlights the importance of exploring microbial diversity in different regions, which can lead to discovery of new and potentially valuable species.
