摘要
This study seeks to shed light on the legal, physical well-being, and technological challenges surrounding the practice of manual scavenging within India. The nation is in a period of transition by advancement in technology, building Smart & Adaptable Cities concepts. Nonetheless, the nation lags in managing essential signs of socioeconomic human development within a city, specifically drainage and sanitation issues. Despite the implementation of stringent regulations in 2013, there have been violations. Considering this, the act of manual scavenging has been deemed illegal by Indian law; nevertheless, the practice is widespread, even in sophisticated or metropolitan cities. Consequently, this paper examines the legal and medical consequences associated with this practice as well as the IoT technologies currently in use to eliminate manual scavenging. In addition, an analysis is conducted on grave matters, such as the number of employees involved in such conduct and their demise in the past years. This study concludes with innovative ideas and methods for improvements in technological IoT devices that could put an end to this inhumane work.
