Optical properties of Ce3+activated high-density lanthanum lutetium germanate scintillating glasses for fast-event X-ray detection

Ce3+ activated high -density lanthanum lutetium germanate glass was fabricated by melt quenching method. Their densities, fluorescence decay curves, transmittance spectra, and luminescence excited by UV light and Xray were measured and investigated. The densities of the glasses are between 5.90 g/cm3 and 5.97 g/cm3. The glasses present blue emission upon 379 nm light and X-ray. The blue emission lifetimes of the glasses are between 11.26 ns and 18.83 ns. The results shows that Ce3+ activated high -density lanthanum lutetium germanate glass would be a potential fast -event X-ray detection scintillating material.
