摘要
The article presents a case report of a 57-year-old patient suffering from schizophrenia for over 20 years, with severe, treatment-resistant cenesthetic hallucinations located in the genital area. Due to the lack of therapeutic alternatives, a series of transcranial direct current stimulation treatments were performed, targeting the somatosensory cortex representing the genital area. The severity of symptoms was assessed using Clinical Global Impression (CGI, Severity and Improvement), Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) and three visual-analog scales, separately for the following characteristic features: "general discomfort", "feeling of testicular perforation" and "pain". After completing a 3-week series of transcranial direct current stimulation procedures, there were no changes between the initial and final clinical assessments.
