The aggregation issue in quantifying sectorial and national GHG emissions using H-MRIO models

The paper uses a hybrid multi-regional inputoutput model to quantify and assess greenhouse gas emissions at the sectorial and national levels, considering gases being released from trade activities. Different versions of sectoral and regional aggregation are developed to examine their role in quantifying relevant emissions. It is identified that the increased numbers of sectors and regions improve the transparency of the obtained results. The detail in technological applications in one sector increases the accuracy of production-based accounting results. Simultaneously, the extent of economic sectors and regions significantly influences emitted gases associated with such activities as importation, exportation, and consumption.
