摘要
Polysaccharides are the most abundant natural carbohydrate polymers and they possess a diverse range of functional hydrophilic groups such as hydroxyl, amino, and carboxylic acid groups. They can provide excellent antifouling or other performances when they are used to modify polymer membranes. However, membrane modification using polysaccharides and their derivatives as additives has never been systematically described. The aim of this review was to summarize, classify, and discuss the recent advances of modified membrane by different polysaccharides and their derivatives, as well as their performances. The polysaccharides discussed herein included cellulose, chitosan, sodium alginate, starch, pectin, and xanthan gum. In addition, the performances involved anti-fouling, oil-water separation, dye removal, anti-bacteria and others. Finally, concluding remarks were provided and the future prospects and challenges associated with polysaccharide modified membranes were discussed.
