摘要
Expecting the dual properties of light emission and magnetism, we synthesized spinel ferrites containing cadmium, copper, and chromium, i.e., Cd0.5Cu0.5CrxFe2-xO4, where x  = 0.0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, and 0.8. The as-prepared materials were synthesized using a coprecipitation method and then sintered to modify their physical and magnetic properties. All the developed materials exhibited stable photoluminescence (PL) emission in the visible range. Vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM) showed negligible coercivity for both the as-prepared and sintered samples, indicating their superparamagnetic properties. Saturation magnetization (Ms) is an index used to realize a strong magnetic force on a material. Ms can be tuned by changing Cr in the spinel ferrites. For the as-prepared material, as Cr increased from x  = 0.2 to 0.4, the Ms changed from a higher value to zero/smaller values, while for the sintering material, as Cr increased from x  = 0.4 to 0.8, Ms changed from a higher value to nearly zero / smaller values.
