Wideband Fabry-Perot Resonator Antenna Employing Signal Partially Reflective Surface

In this paper, we present a wideband, high-gain, and low-profile Fabry-Perot resonator antenna (FPRA) using a single-layer dielectric partially reflective surfaces (PRS) unit with a positive phase gradient of approximately 10 GHz. The PRS is constructed using 2D printed units arranged in a non-periodic configuration, which significantly enhances its performance. By combining a wideband antenna with a slot-coupled patch as a feed, the proposed antenna demonstrates good broadband characteristics. Simulation results indicate a −10dB matching bandwidth of 30%, ranging from 8.7 to 11.7 GHz, while the 3 dB gain bandwidth extends from 8.8 to 11.8 GHz, with the fractional bandwidth about 30%. Furthermore, the antenna achieves a peak gain of 15.4 dBi. The dimension of FPRA is $(2.3 \times 2.3 \times 0.55) \lambda ^{\mathbf{3}}$ ($\lambda$ is the wavelength at the 10GHz).
