Editorial

This issue features papers resulting from our effort to strengthen collaboration with haptics-focused conferences, particularly the 2024 IEEE Haptics Symposium (HS). Authors submitted their conference papers to the IEEE Transactions on Haptics (ToH) for potential publication as short papers and presentation at the HS upon acceptance. Participation from our community was remarkable: 45 papers were submitted to this special track, with 18 accepted for publication in the journal and presentation at the conference. These submissions underwent a custom review process for the journal. Papers not accepted as ToH short papers after one round of revision have not been reconsidered for publication as conference technical papers. Additionally, authors of 5 papers that have not been accepted as ToH Short Papers after a single round of revision had the option to continue the review process through the standard ToH short paper review process and timeline. To ensure a seamless review within the constrained timeframe, several Guest Editors have joined the ToH Editorial Board.
