摘要
A statistical description of the electromagnetic fields excited in a finite-length cylindrical cavity by plane wave incidence on a thin longitudinal aperture is provided for a stochastically described aperture location. A semi-analytical approach is used to represent cavity electric fields as a function of the longitudinal location of the aperture. This representation is then used to characterize the probability density function of the fields inside the cavity as a function of the probability density function (PDF) of the aperture position. Other field moments (e.g. mean, standard deviation, extreme values, etc.) can then be determined from the corresponding PDF. Results from the analytical approach are shown and validated through comparisons with Monte Carlo simulations.
