Non-uniform Constellation Design based on Golden Angle Modulation in Phase Noise Channel.

In TeraHertz bands for future 6th generation (6G) wireless networks, phase noise (PN) is much higher. This paper proposes a non-uniform constellation (NUC) design scheme in the channel with PN. In the NUC design scheme, channel capacity over the PN channel is first derived and adopted as the criterion of constellation optimization. Secondly, the Geometric-bell golden angle modulation (GB-GAM) with a well-designed bit mapping scheme is adopted as the initial constellation. Finally, NUCs based on GB-GAM (GB-GAM-NUC) are optimized in the U-V coordination system by the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. Numerical results highlight that the optimized GB-GAM-NUC provides meaningful performance gain over the channel with strong PN. The proposed NUC design scheme can be an enabling technology to perform better for future 6G in TeraHertz bands.
