摘要
Southern California Edison (SCE) aims to utilize stationary energy storage systems to improve grid reliability and resiliency during planned and unplanned outages, including Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS). Stationary energy storage is primarily deployed at a pre-selected location, limiting the opportunity to cover multiple areas with the same storage system during a PSPS event. To overcome this constraint, SCE has implemented various resiliency solutions to reduce the impacts on customers from PSPS. One solution that has received much attention is using mobile battery energy storage systems (MBESS), eliminating the stationary storage system's stationary constraint and enhancing grid reliability and resilience. In this paper, the authors demonstrate validating and deploying a 741kW/2.9MWh MBESS. The system was deployed at a 16kV circuit and tested in grid-following mode during a simulated PSPS event.
