摘要
Since 2015, green tides have recurred annually in Jinmeng Bay (JMB), China. Reclamation projects have been considered an important anthropogenic perturbation in JMB for green tides. A coupled hydrodynamic and water quality model was used to simulate hydrodynamic and transport processes for different artificial structure scenarios. Numerical results prove that reclamation projects exert a significant impact on the water environment in JMB, and nutrient distributions are mainly influenced by Conch Island, which decreases pollutant dilution and diffusion in coastal waters. Moreover, the average residence time increases by about 35% after the construction of the two artificial islands. Areas with long residence time coincide with the major sources of the green tide blooms, which declares that the weak water exchange capacity affected by artificial islands is responsible for the water quality degradation. The increased nutrient levels and hydraulic residence time also suggest the high possibility of green algal blooms in JMB.
