A Condition Based Maintenance Strategy for Pumped-Storage Units under New Electricity Price Mechanism

Condition based maintenance (CBM) is more targeted than regular maintenance and accident maintenance. Pumped-storage enterprises can effectively reduce the waste of manpower, material resources, and financial resources in maintenance equipment by using condition based maintenance. This paper presents a system architecture design for condition based maintenance of pumped-storage units and a decision model considering probabilistic cost comparison, which is verified by an example. The results indicate that the condition-based maintenance strategy of pumped-storage units after entering the market is influenced by short-term market conditions. Under the current regulation of 80% electricity price income being calculated as capacity income, their maintenance decision-making behavior is more focused on early shut down for maintenance.
