摘要
Background. - Pollen food allergy syndrome related to PR10 (PR10-PFAS) recently became a common childhood disease in northern Europe. Albeit usually restricted to oropharyngeal symptoms, PR10-PFAS can induce systemic reactions (PR10-SR). Objective. - To identify clinical and biological characteristics associated with PR10-related food allergies in birch allergic French children. Methods. - We retrospectively analyzed the clinical characteristics and level of sIgE to Bet v1 of 62 children suffering from allergy to birch pollen with and without PR10-PFAS. Results. - Among the 62 patients, 31 reported PR10-PFAS (50%). Patients without PR10-PFAS presented more non PR10-related food allergies (77 vs. 52%, P= 0.034). No other differences in terms of personal or familial comorbidities were found. Children with PR10-PFAS tended to show higher median level of sIgE to Bet v1 without statistical significance (49.0 [17.6;100] vs. 8.8 [5.80; 79.6], P= 0.13). Six patients reported systemic reaction to PR10 foods, 3 of them were severe. Conclusion. - PR10-PFAS is frequent among birch allergic children and is not associated with a different clinical or biological phenotype. SR to PR10 foods are not that rare and can be severe.
