Abstract
In this study, an electrochemical method for the synthesis of 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones is presented. The protocol utilizes ethylene glycol as the methylene C1 source to cyclize with 2-aminobenzamides. Notably, this cyclization reaction proceeds efficiently and conveniently under room temperature, without the need for any homogeneous metal catalysts, external oxidants, acids or bases. Via this relatively simple and green approach, an array of structurally diverse N,N-disubstituted 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones can be obtained.
