Investigation on the rheological properties and modification mechanism of waste badminton shuttlecock modified asphalt binder

At present, all kinds of sports are popularized more and more deeply all over the world, and the accompanying sports waste has caused great pressure on the natural environment, but the society pays far less attention to the reuse of sports waste. Based on this, waste badminton shuttlecock (WBS) with an annual consumption of over 300 million in China was selected for asphalt modification. Combined with penetration, softening point, temperature scanning, multiple stress creep recovery, linear amplitude sweep test, bending-beam rheometer test and infrared spectrum test, its performance and mechanism were tested. The results showed that WBS can significantly improve the high-temperature performance of asphalt and improve its low-temperature performance to a certain extent, but when the content is too high, it is unfavorable to its fatigue performance, and it is recommended that the content should be within 1%. The infrared spectrum test results showed that the modification process is physical miscible modification. This study can provide inspiration and thinking for the application of sports waste in road materials, and further benefit analysis can be carried out in the future combined with life cycle cost calculation.
