Single-pot synthesis of Nb2O5-V2O5 nanocomposite for advanced charge storage applications: Unveiling morphological, structural and electrochemical insights

The present study is focused on the synthesis of Nb2O5-V2O5 nanocomposite for the charge storage applications. The X-ray diffraction patterns of the materials revealed the orthorhombic phase formation of Nb2O5 showing spherical morphology that was observed from scanning electron microscopic images. FTIR investigations were used to determine the structural characteristics of the composite material. The surface parameters of Nb2O5 were obtained from BET isotherms and were found to be enhanced on forming composite with V2O5. The electrochemical studies of both Nb2O5 and Nb2O5-V2O5 composite materials are evaluated and were found to exhibit pseudocapacitance behaviour with an increased electrochemically active surface area (EASA) for the composite material. The GCD profile of the composite material show the greater specific capacitance value of 568 Fg 1 at 1 Ag 1 with an excellent cyclic stability showing the capacitance retention of 91.6 % even after 2000 cycles.
