Wireless Monitoring System With Capability of RSS Data and Capture Data Synchronization.

In wireless communication environments, network administrators must comprehend the situation of the wireless resource usage as detailed as possible to prevent deterioration of the communication quality. Both RSS data (i.e., a time series of received signal strengths) and capture data (i.e., a time series of header information extracted from each received frame) are useful for comprehending wireless resource usage. When obtaining these data using different sensor nodes, synchronizing the timestamps between both kinds of data is challenging. In this paper, we propose a synchronization algorithm between RSS and capture data and experimentally confirmed that it can achieve synchronization accuracy of less than 1 μs in just a few seconds of computation time.
