CyberSafe: A Gamified Cyber Security Training Method

In this paper, we address the growing concern of cyberattacks due to low awareness among computer users. Many organizations have started implementing workshops and training programs to educate their employees and users about cybersecurity. However, some of these programs lack sufficient knowledge and fail to engage participants effectively. To overcome these limitations, we present a novel system called CyberSafe, developed using the Unity game engine. CyberSafe comprises multiple levels of training, each focusing on an important aspect of cybersecurity that users commonly encounter in their daily lives. A player can choose one of these levels and follow Nova AI’s instructions. By providing a hands-on learning experience, CyberSafe aims to increase users’ awareness and equip them with the necessary skills to navigate the internet safely and mitigate the risk of falling victim to cyberattacks. We conducted pre- and post-tests with users who interacted with the CyberSafe system, and the results demonstrate a significant improvement in their awareness and ability to detect different types of attacks. Moreover, the CyberSafe system offers a flexible, user-friendly, and enjoyable approach to enhancing knowledge about cyberattacks.
