A 100GHz-band GaN Transmitter Module with Triple-Multiplier for Beyond 5G

摘要
The goal of Beyond 5G is to achieve ultrahigh-speed and high-capacity communication that is 10 times faster than 5G. Research and development on the application of the terahertz band (100 GHz band) in feeder link communication between the ground and non- terrestrial networks (NTNs) is being pursued to realize ultrahigh-speed and large-capacity communications. The purpose of this research is to develop a high-power transmitter module to establish a stable 100 GHz feeder link between the ground and NTNs. In this study, a 100 GHz-band gallium nitride (GaN) transmitter module with a triple multiplier was designed and measured. The fabricated transmitter module consists of Ka-band GaN monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs) and a W-band GaN triple-multiplier MMIC.
