Integration of Terahertz Resonant Tunneling Diode with Broadband Dielectric Waveguide using Corrugated Mode Converter

摘要
We propose a broadband and efficient method based on a corrugated Fermi antenna for mode conversion from micro-scale terahertz (THz) electronic active devices to a dielectric waveguide platform. The proposed structure provides high directivity, resulting in efficient coupling with dielectric waveguides. The structure is experimentally characterized using a resonant tunneling diode (RTD) and an effective-medium cladding waveguide, exhibiting 3-dB bandwidth of over 100 GHz in 0.3-THz band. Moreover, we demonstrated a 32-Gbit/s error-free transmission with the transmitter power of - 20.5 dBm using the RTD with the mode converter as a receiver.
