Anxiolytic effects of Dichrocephala integrifolia leaf aqueous extract on alcohol withdrawal-induced anxiety in mice: Involvement of the GABAergic pathway

•Dichrocephala integrifolia aqueous extract reverses alcohol withdrawal- induced an increase in open arms activities in the elevated plus maze apparatus.•Dichrocephala integrifolia reduced the latency to the first head dipping in the hole board apparatus.•Dichrocephala integrifolia aqueous extract increased the center time of ethanol withdrawn mice placed in the open field.•Dichrocephala integrifolia aqueous extract increased the brain GABA level of ethanol withdrawn mice.
