Fractal Character of the Conductor Destruction in the Zone of Local Increase of the Pulsed Current Density

Under the conditions of the pulsed current carrying with an amplitude of up to 200 kA along the flat conductor with the defects of various initial lengths, the main factors influencing the propagation of the defects are determined. As a result of comparison of experiments and simulation results, the influence of thermal stresses on the conductor destruction was revealed. An analysis of the defects after repeated carrying of the pulsed current demonstrates the fractal character of the destruction zones formed after exposure. The possibility of determining some fracture parameters using the fiber Bragg gratings was evaluated by numerical simulation
