Experimental Method for Identification of DC Converter Models and Design of Digital Controllers

This work proposes a practical method for exper-imental identification of the dynamic model of direct current converters and design of digital controllers. The identification method is based on a black box approach, and it is applied to a simulated Boost converter. The converter simulation also includes electronic instrumentation for sensor signal conditioning. In the end, controllers designed from the identified models are implemented in a field programmable gate array device and are employed to control a hardware emulated boost converter. The results indicate that the proposed method is suitable for identification and control of direct current converters at different operating points. This is interesting because the method can be used as an alternative or complementation to the classical analytical modeling approach.
