Accumulation of α-amylase in wheat grains during grain ripening in late maturity α-amylase (LMA)-susceptible wheat varieties may result in an unacceptably low Falling Number and failure to meet industry receival standards. Expression of LMA in most gibberellin insensitive semi-dwarf wheat varieties is dependent on the genotype and environmental conditions during grain ripening.
