A Design Method of the Bilateral LC-Compensated CPT System with Constant Output Voltage Considering the Secondary Inductance

To get more freedom of the secondary inductor and compensated capacitor when the coupling capacitance fixed, this paper proposes a new resonant relationship and design method of the bilateral LC-compensated capacitive power transfer (CPT) system with constant voltage output. Compared to the original resonant scenery, this paper shows the adjustable secondary compensated inductor has the benefit of reducing the weight and volume of receiver. The contributions of this paper can be summarized in below parts. First, all the possibility of the resonant relationship with constant voltage for the bilateral LC-compensation is analyzed. Second, it shows the impacts of the secondary compensated inductor and capacitor variations on the system property in constant voltage mode and gives a design method to optimize CPT system parameters. Third, a prototype is built, which shows approximately 60% decreases in primary and secondary compensated inductor compared to the original resonant inductor separately with 172W power transfer and the dc-dc efficiency of 82.2% validating the content of this paper.
