Research on A Three-Phase Battery Wireless Charger with Arc Transmitting Coils for AUV

To address the problem that the coupler in the autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) rotate and misalignment due to ocean current fluctuations, which can lead to the sharp fluctuation of the output electrical energy for the wireless charger, a three-phase battery wireless charger based with arc transmitting coils is presented in this paper. The coupler consists of three arc-shaped transmitter coils and a cylindrical receiver coil, which is beneficial for suppressing the central magnetic field and improving the anti-rotation offset performance. Besides, a novel wireless charging topology based on the single mode conversion switch is proposed to adapt to the coupler and meet the charging requirements of the batteries. This topology can achieve configurable constant output independent of load under the conditions of simple control and a small number of compensation components. This paper provides a detailed introduction to the operating mechanism of the presented charger and the parameter design methodology is also given. Ultimately, the proposed scheme is validated through simulation. The results imply that while the AUV rotates, the transmission power is between 1457.6W~1548.4W, and the maximum fluctuation rate is 5.9%.
