Solar energy is a sustainable source of power that plays an important role in modern development. Solar panels (Photovoltaic - PV) are devices that convert solar radiation into electricity; the PV conversion efficiency depends upon many factors such as solar radiation, wind speed, ambient temperature, fabrication materials, etc. High operating temperatures can reduce the efficiency of PV panel, and cooling is an effective solution to maintain and improve performance. Passive cooling is a widely used method because of its simple equipment, low capital expenditure, low operating and maintenance costs. This paper presents a comprehensive review of recent studies on cooling PV panels passively using heat sinks.
