Outcomes of Biopsy Grade Group 1 Prostate Cancer Diagnosis in the Danish Population

We observed a high rate of prostate cancer–specific mortality among men diagnosed with localized Gleason grade group 1 (GG 1) cancer who were never treated and were followed on watchful waiting. This observation does not support a change in nomenclature for GG 1 cancer. Before a change in nomenclature from cancer to noncancer, it is paramount that research identifies the group of men with GG 1 disease who die of causes other than prostate cancer.
