Efficient fabrication of cellulose nanofibers with novel superbase-derived ionic liquid/co-solvents: Rapid cellulose dissolution and improved solution electrospinnability

•The superbase-derived ionic liquid/co-solvents facilitated cellulose dissolution.•The improved electrospinnability of cellulose solutions enabled a continuous jet.•The electrospinning process was optimized to reduce adhesion between filaments.•The cellulose nanofibers exhibited excellent thermal stability and hydrophilicity.
