Targeted Therapies for Neonatal Pulmonary Hypertension: Beyond Nitric Oxide

Although there are multiple FDA -approved medications for adults with PH, iNO remains the only approved treatment in neonates. Bosentan and recently sildenafil are the only FDA -approved agents for the pediatric population. Thus, outside of iNO, PH in the neonate is treated with off -label therapies, often based on data extrapolated from adults or small observational studies. More studies are needed to expand options for the prevention and treatment of PH in the neonate.
