•CQD/P25/NH2−MIL-125 composite materials were synthesized using a facile reflux method.•CQDs exhibited up-conversion photoluminescence (UCPL) effect, enhancing photocatalytic performance.•Heterostructures of P25 and NH2−MIL-125 improved charge transfer and facilitated electron-hole separation.•1wt% CQDs/P25/NH2−MIL-125 demonstrated the highest rate constant (k1) of 0.0141, following 1st-order kinetics.
