•Electric field-stimulated Raman scattering enhancing biochips were demonstrated for the uremic toxin detection.•EC-SERS substrate was fabricated by Au nano-islands were deposited on the 3D laser-scribed graphene.•EC-SERS signals of urea enhance 4 times at −0.2 V, compared to SERS signals without apply electric field.
