In-situ sodium chloride template synthesis of γ-WO3 hollow cubes for high-sensing and dual-selective hydrazine/dibutylamine detection at different temperatures

•Hollow γ-WO3 cubes were simply prepared by calcining cubic (NH4)0.33WO3 formed from in-situ NaCl template.•The WO3-HC-5 sensor achieved temperature-controlled dual-selectivity to N2H4 and DBA gases for the first time.•The good performance stems from the synergism of unique microstructure and surface unsaturated W6+ catalysis.•The in-situ NaCl template method provides a creative vision for synthesizing other hollow metal oxide cubes.
