Shared-Aperture Phased Array Antenna Based on Dual-Band Feeding Network

A novel S-/C-band shared-aperture phased array antenna is proposed in this paper. Different from the conventional dual-band shared-aperture phased array antennas utilizing two types of antenna elements, the proposed shared-aperture phased array antenna achieves the dual-band independent operation by employing the dual-band feeding network composed of duplexers and power dividers. The calculated results show that the proposed antenna can scan up to ±60° with the active VSWRs below 2.2 within 3.3−3.8 GHz (14.1% at S-band) and 5.3−6 GHz (12.4% at C-band).
