A Low-Complexity Near-Field Localization Method Based on Electric Field Model

In this letter, we propose a low-complexity localization method for a typical near-field scenario consisting of a linear antenna and a user equipment (UE). We employ an electric field model to describe the localization signal transmitted by the linear antenna, and establish an observation equation based on the electric field intensity received by the UE. A closed-form solution is given for UE positioning, including distance and angle. Furthermore, we propose a maximum likelihood (ML) solution to enhance the localization performance in the presence of noise. Simulation results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
