摘要
•Area density could be reduced by explosively welding Mg to Al.•Impact causes delamination in the clad material with a thickness ratio of Mg: Al = 0.7: 0.3.•Compared to A6061-T6, clad material with a thickness ratio of Mg: Al = 0.5: 0.5 produces less forward ejecta.•Shielding performance can be enhanced by increasing the damage area in rear wall using Mg/Al clad material.
