The independent and joint effect of socioeconomic status and Multiracial status on the prevalence and frequency of substance use and depression among U.S. adolescents

•Multiracial adolescents report higher rates of cannabis use than White peers.•Multiracial adolescents report higher rates of illicit drug use than White peers.•Multiracial adolescents have higher rates of major depressive episodes than Whites.•These racial differences only existed among adolescents with higher family incomes.
