Optimal Planning of Multi-Electrolyzer Power-to-Hydrogen(P2H) Clusters in Distribution Network

Multi-electrolyzer power-to-hydrogen (P2H) clusters can effectively improve the challenge of electric energy consumption in high-penetration renewable energy distribution network. Thus, this paper studies the technical characteristics indicators differences between alkaline electrolyzer(AE) and proton exchange membrane electrolyzer(PEME). On this basis, an optimal planning decision model for multi-electrolyzer P2H clusters is proposed. The objective function of the proposed model involves minimizing the investment costs, operational cost, startup/shutdown cost, main grid power purchasing cost, network active power losses cost, and voltage deviation cost. Finally, a modified IEEE 33-node distribution network case is used to verified the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed model.
