Reasonable design pentamerous artificial photosynthesis system for efficient overall CO2 reduction

Inspired by the photosynthesis of green plants in nature, an artificial photosynthesis system of MF/Co-BWO/CPBCu with "root", "trunk" and "leaf" is designed in this study, realizing efficient overall photocatalytic CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR). Melamine foam (MF) with strong hydrophilicity and abundant porosity is selected as "root" and "trunk", which can store and transfer liquid H2O. For the "leaf" design, Bi2WO6 and CsPbBr3 are selected as oxidation and reduction photocatalysts, respectively, which would generate Bi2WO6/CsPbBr3 Sscheme heterojunction. CuS and CoO as reduction and oxidation centers are also introduced into photosynthesis system, respectively. CuS plays an important role in CO2 adsorption and activation, while CoO could promote H2O oxidation and supply proton. Moreover, Co-BWO/CPB-Cu as "leaf" could trigger the "transpiration" from MF via photo-thermal effect, inducing the formation of gas-solid biphase CO2RR system. As a result, the artificial photosynthesis system of MF/Co-BWO/CPB-Cu exhibits the efficient CO2RR efficiency.
