On Sustainability of a Hospital-as-Vertical-Operator Model in the 5G Era.

Innovative business models and applications have been key to $5G$ service designs. This paper aims to investigate a mobile network access service provision model of cooperation and resource sharing among a hospital-as-vertical operator (HAVO) and $5G$ mobile network operators (MNOs). The question to address is: when the existing HAVO is upgraded to the $5G$ network and services, would the HAVO model be sustainable? By using current $5G$ network and service parameters, this paper examines an existing $4G$ HAVO model and adopts a cost-benefit analysis (CBA) to perform a worst-case evaluation of its sustainability in the $5G$ era. The analysis shows insights that win-win-win conditions will continue to exist for all the participants of the HAVO business model.
