Circulating mitochondrial long non-coding 7S RNA in primary health care patients with depression/anxiety

•Mitochondria non-coding RNA, 7S RNA regulates mitochondrial transcription.•The expression and the roles of 7S RNA in depression/anxiety remain unclear.•The initial expression levels of 7S RNA exhibited a notable increase in patients compared to the healthy control group.•Post-treatment, 7S RNA levels notably decreased, showing a connection with treatment response through HADS-D scores.
