Research on Propagation Properties in Buildings for Acoustically Actuated Monopole Antennas

The monopole antenna is a simple but powerful radio device that can be used to receive and transmit radio signals. In addition to its good performance for transmitting or receiving signals, electrically small metallic monopoles have common problems such as difficult impedance matching, large radiation loss and large volume. In this paper, an acoustically actuated monopole antenna (AAMA) is proposed to overcome the shortcomings of traditional metallic monopole methods, and promote the radiation efficiency, which can be used as a more compact radio transmitter. Moreover, the propagation properties of the AAMA is studied in reinforced concrete buildings and a maximum of communication distance of 26m is achieved. This kind of AAMA technology can be used in positioning/communication applications in blocked rooms and emergency situations.
