Decentralized Demand Management of Industrial Parks with Dynamic Load Resources Commitment

The prevalence of renewable generators poses great challenges to the dynamic balancing of the power grid. As a promising solution to locally accommodate renewable energy generation, the operation of flexible resources has become an important problem. In this paper, we focus on utilizing demand-side resources in an industrial park to consume the renewable energy generation locally, with a decentralized algorithm. One critical issue in the decentralized demand management is the uncertain willingness of demand-side resources to participate, which is usually ignored in the existing literature. To fill the research gap, we propose a convex optimization model for the demand management problem in industrial parks, and design a consensus-based demand management algorithm to handle the addition and deletion of load resources during the demand management process. In the case study, we simulate the decentralized demand management in an industrial park, and compare the results obtained by the proposed algorithm with the benchmarks. Our proposed method can effectively handle the dynamic commitment of load resources in the industrial park and converges to the global optimal solutions in different scenarios.
