How Students Plagiarize Modeling Assignments

Plagiarism is a prevalent issue in computer science education, with students employing various techniques to conceal their plagiarism. While it is essential to understand how students engage in plagiaristic behaviors, it remains unclear how students do so for modeling assignments. To close this gap, we conducted an experiment involving novice modelers, instructing them to plagiarize a modeling assignment while concealing its source. Thus, this paper explores students' specific techniques to conceal modeling plagiarism. Our work initiates a discussion on plagiarism in modeling assignments and sheds light on the challenges associated with detecting and addressing it.
