“We need a little strength as well”: Examining the social context of informal caregivers for Black women with breast cancer

•We interviewed 24 informal caregivers for Black women with breast cancer.•On average, participants reported high levels of relationship satisfaction.•Some caregivers had a cancer history & had shifted between patient/caregiver roles.•Some caregivers described the cumulative burden of caring for multiple people.•Clinicians should be mindful of how the family health context affects caregivers.
