Electrode Layout Optimization for 3D Bladder Electrical Impedance Tomography with Sparse Representation.

In radiotherapy, an engorged bladder is necessary to protect healthy tissue from radiant damage. To determine the optimal time for radiotherapy, the volume, shape and position of the bladder need to be monitored. This paper proposes an optimized electrode layout of electrical impedance tomography (EIT) sensor for the 3D imaging of bladder. In order to improve image quality, the sparse representation method is adopted for image reconstruction, combed with anatomy prior information. Four electrode layouts are compared by simulation, and an optimal 2-layer layout is selected. Tank experiment based on the selected sensor layout is carried out to test its effectiveness. Simulation and experiment prove that the proposed sensor layout can reconstruct 3D image of bladder, based on which the size, shape, and position of bladder can be evaluated.
